You can recover files up to a few days old by taking advantage of the dot-snapshot facility. Every directory on the filers (ie, home dirs and /procket) contains a (sometimes invisible) directory called “.snapshot”. Under it there is a list of snapshots, and under that is views of the files as they were at some time in the past.

In this case, it looks like that file hasn’t been modified much in the last few days and was truncated very recently, so the old content can be found in:

/home/kevin/public_html/AtlasHTML/11beta/.snapshot/hourly.0/DocGoals.html
